Signage at work and its great importance

A large number of accidents in the workplace are due to the absence of signalling i would like to ask the commissioner whether he is prepared to take the necessary steps to ensure that this is done.

By regulation there should be different information boards depending on the work and the working environment, indicating in an appropriate way the different risks and hazards involved, as well as the special circumstances that require the worker to take extreme precautions.

Some types of signalling employment are as follows:

  • Prohibition signsThis: signalling it is responsible for indicating what actions should not be taken so as not to endanger the integrity of workers in the work environment.
  • Warning signs: This type of signal is used to warn of some kind of danger in the work environment, such as a fall hazard, high voltage hazard, etc.
  • Signs of obligation: They are those which inform of the obligation to use a certain Personal protective equipment (EPI), as may be the case, gloves, special suits.
  • Information signs: They provide information on various aspects of the working environment, which can be important for worker safety.
  • Rescue or rescue signs: This category includes all signs which warn the user of what to do or where a worker should go in an emergency. Within this type are also signs informing about the location or existence of the first aid kit or emergency exits.
  • Light or sound signals: These signs may be alarms, lights, or horns that warn of some kind of problem or circumstance.

It is important that all undertakings fully respect the obligation to place all necessary signs and information boards to inform workers of the hazards they face at their workplace and also to remind them of the obligation to use certain equipment.

In any case, the workers themselves must be aware of the risks inherent in their activity and must respect all safety precautions to the maximum extent possible.

Every professional must have received adequate training in occupational risk prevention, one of the main aspects to be taken into account in any work environment where the health and safety of workers is at risk, to a greater or lesser extent depending on the field of work and the job in question.
