EN ISO 13688:2013 A1:2021 (General Requirements)

This is the "base" standard. It does not provide protection by itself but establishes the minimum requirements that any protective garment must meet before applying a specific standard.

EN ISO 20471:2013 + A1:2016 (High Visibility)

This specific standard regulates clothing designed to visually signal the user's presence in high-risk situations (heavy traffic, moving machinery, etc.). It is based on the combination of two types of materials and divides garments into three classes according to the minimum visible surface:

Fluorescent Material (Day): Provides visibility in daylight and twilight conditions.

Retroreflective Material (Night): Strips that reflect light from headlights back to the driver.

EN 1149

The EN 1149 standard (specifically EN 1149-5) regulates protective clothing with electrostatic properties to prevent flammable sparks in ATEX, chemical, or explosive risk environments. It requires dissipative materials (usually carbon threads) that are grounded (conductive footwear), fully covering non-compliant garments.

EN ISO 14116

The EN ISO 14116 standard specifies the requirements for materials, material combinations, and protective garments against limited flame spread, designed to protect against occasional and brief contact with small flames, without significant thermal risks. It reduces the risk of ignition and burns, classified into three indices (1-3) according to their performance.
