The epoxy adhesive 3M™ Scotch-Weld 2216 is a flexible two-component epoxy that cures at room temperature. It provides high shear and peel strength joints while remaining very flexible; this makes it the ideal alternative for applications where vibrations and thermal expansion and contraction are common. It also withstands very low temperatures without becoming excessively brittle.
Easy application, flexible performance Our epoxy adhesive 3M™ Scotch-Weld 2216 is designed for applications that require high performance and flexible joints. Thanks to its flexibility, it is ideal for applications involving surfaces of different natures and where different thermal expansion coefficients must be taken into account, for example when bonding glass to metals. Once cured, the epoxy maintains an extremely strong bond under conditions of expansion, contraction, and limited movement while maintaining good resistance over time and after environmental wear.
With a mixing ratio of 2:3, it is a low-viscosity epoxy. Its fluidity allows for precise dispensing. Both the base and the accelerator are color-coded, ensuring that you know which part of the product is being used. Recommended applications
We have designed the epoxy adhesive 3M™ Scotch-Weld 2216 to perform at extremely low temperatures. Withstanding temperatures of up to -252 °C, it is ideal for cryogenic bonding applications. At room temperature, it offers a working time of 90 minutes that allows for repositioning and adjustments. It will cure slowly over more than 7 days, but this curing time can be reduced by applying heat, to as little as 30 minutes at 93 °C. It has a shear strength capable of withstanding up to 22.1 MPa at 24 °C. Structurally solid Epoxy adhesives are part of the family of so-called "structural adhesives," which also includes acrylics, polyurethanes, and cyanoacrylates. Two-component structural adhesive
Supply: 5 to 10 working days
FEATURES
- Very flexible joints that resist bending, impacts, and extreme vibrations, making it ideal for filling applications and the transportation sector.
- Maintains solid joints under conditions of expansion, contraction, and limited movement while resisting environmental wear well.
- Excellent for cryogenic bonding applications or for bonding substrates that will be exposed to extreme cold.
- Its medium viscosity helps minimize creep, dripping, or migration while allowing for self-leveling.
- Versatile bonding agent that will adhere to a wide range of similar or different substrates, including metals and masonry materials.
- Heat can be used to reduce curing times from 7 days to a minimum of 30 minutes.
