The 3M501C fiber discTM includes a sharpened zirconium aluminium mineral in a durable fiber support, making it ideal for welding extraction and for other medium pressure applications, such as shaving or rust removal. Zirconium aluminum offers fast cutting and a consistent finish in mild steel, but can also be used with good results in stainless steel.

The rigid fibre backing is extremely durable: vulcanized, hardened and condensed before being coated with mineral. It resists wear and tends not to yield or deflect when working, which helps the abrasive to stay strong, especially when grinding and finishing the edges.
