Reactive polyurethane adhesive Scotch-Weld white TS230 3M

The PUR adhesive 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ TS230 is a one-component structural adhesive that cures by moisture and is 100% solid-based, designed for bonding wood and certain plastics.

Its formula with 100% solids is very resistant to plasticizers and firmly bonds a wide variety of substrates, both of similar and different nature. Different from two-component adhesives, our family of one-component reactive polyurethane (PUR) adhesives begins to cure when exposed to moisture. Unlike two-component reactive adhesives, moisture-curing polyurethanes are not significantly affected by temperature as they are by humidity.

If the relative humidity is below 40% and the substrate porosity is very low, the curing speed can be drastically reduced due to the lower amount of moisture available in the surrounding environment. The difference lies in the curing. The way moisture-curing polyurethane adhesives cure varies slightly but significantly from water-based or solvent-based adhesives. These adhesives cure through a chemical and mechanical bond.

APPLICATIONS

These adhesives are applied when heated and strongly bond different substrates such as wood, fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), and many other plastics to themselves, as well as to metal and glass.

Both the cream and black versions are extrudable or sprayable and provide an extended open time and piece holding time. Thanks to this, it offers more time to position the pieces or joints and adjust them perfectly before it fully cures.
