HOW TO USE

The products can be used to validate the seal between the face and the mask on any disposable mask or half mask. For half mask fit testing, it must be equipped with a P3 particle filter for the test. 3M™ offers two qualitative fit test equipment kits: FT-10 (sweet) and FT-30 (bitter).

The FT-10 uses a sodium saccharin test solution that produces a sweet tasting aerosol. The FT-30 uses a denatonium benzoate test solution that produces a bitter taste. The choice between the bitter and sweet test kit is personal. However, a small percentage of the population cannot detect saccharin, in which case the bitter test kit should be used (and vice versa, if the bitter cannot be detected, the sweet should be used).
