They are available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic material that is typically used in low-pressure applications such as pre-painting and finishing tasks. Aluminum oxide is a hard, polyhedral mineral that provides high cutting power and durability. Although silicon carbide breaks down more quickly than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish. Unitized products are durable due to their production method.
