INSTALLATION

Drill two holes with a heavy percussion drill to a depth of 85 mm with a 25 mm diameter bit at a distance of 300 mm between the centers of the holes and insert the step by alternately hitting the stops with a large nylon mallet.

USES OF STEPS

There are different places and facilities within the work environment where access is complicated and requires different elements that form a ladder, such as the step for manholes 300mm (ref. MH1), which allows access to sewage wells, tanks, sewer manholes, inspection wells, rooftops, pools, docks, underground chambers of electrical or telephone networks, service galleries, etc.

The step for wells and silos 300mm (ref. MH1) is a model made of reinforced copolymer polypropylene with steel, designed for use on both curved and straight surfaces, featuring an ergonomic, robust, compact design with high impact resistance. To enhance safety, it has a non-slip surface and side flanges, as well as an impact stop for the correct insertion of the step.

Thanks to its simple system, it can be customized to the customer's liking, ensuring compliance with the European quality standard EN 13101, calibrated F1 with hardness of 65kg/mm². American ASTM C-478 and C-497, and German DIN 19555.

Its installation is very quick and easy, as it only requires drilling two holes with a heavy percussion drill to a depth of 85 mm with a 25 mm diameter bit at a distance of 300 mm between the centers of the holes and inserting the step by hitting the stops alternately with a large nylon mallet.

Currently, the step for silos 300mm (ref. MH1) is used for a wide range of applications within the work environment, characterized by being of the highest quality, offering great resistance and durability, making access to any type of well, silo, or manhole possible through steps with steps.

Thanks to this access element, reaching certain areas within a work environment will be much easier and more comfortable for the professional, who will not have to rely on mobile ladders to access a basement, pool, silo, or well, among others, with the convenience of not having to carry a ladder from one place to another and providing greater safety as they are secured to the wall.

In any case, when proceeding with its installation, the professional must ensure that all pieces are perfectly secured to each other and to the wall, thus avoiding any potential issues that could lead to a workplace accident.

Real-life example or analogy: Imagine you have a well in your garden that you need to access frequently for maintenance tasks. Instead of having to climb or use a ladder every time you need to enter, you can install polypropylene steps around the well. These steps will allow you to safely and comfortably go up and down, facilitating access to the well.

INSTALLATION OF STEP LADDER

Do you want to know how to install our polypropylene steps?

Follow our tips and you will see that by following a few simple steps you will be able to install your own step ladder for any vertical surface: wells, silos, docks, water tanks, confined spaces…

Remember that at IVERNA we also have accessories such as templates, bits, or special drills to facilitate and make the installation of our polypropylene steps even more comfortable.

Necessary Materials:

  • Drill
  • Concrete or rebar drill bit of 25 mm diameter.
  • Nylon mallet.
  • Level ruler.
  • Marker and tape measure.
  • Any step from our Eco Pate or Pate Sugar range

STEP 1

With the help of the level ruler, mark the ends where the step will be inserted, taking the center of the rod as a reference. Depending on the model, the distance will be 300 mm, 320 mm, 330 mm, 340 mm, and 380 mm from center to center.

STEP 2

Repeat the process with each step, leaving a recommended distance of 250 mm between each step.

STEP 3

Once the marks are made, drill with a concrete or rebar drill bit of 25 mm diameter to a depth of 850 mm, leaving a perfect hole for the insertable part of our step.

If these holes are not made accurately (for example, too large), the step will not hold. In such a case, the drilled or formed hole must be filled with mortar/putty or chemical anchor.

STEP 4

Fit the step with several firm hits on the impact stop. Once secured, hit the same stops until the total insertion depth is reached, so that only the rectangular or round part of the step remains visible.

The ends of the anchor are round and slightly conical. They act like harpoons once placed, ensuring that the step remains completely immobile.

STEP 5

Your step ladder is now ready to be used.

If the installation is correct, the steps will withstand tensile forces exceeding 800 Kg!

Some rules and recommendations for the installation of steps

As there may be special conditions at the installation site, unknown to us, our general instructions do not hold us responsible for the final assembly of the step.

Our PATE-SUGAR is preferably recommended for the holes of inspection wells, both for sewage and drainage, as well as for any other type of underground inspection.

The applied measurements and non-slip highlights comply with the safety regulations applied in all countries. These measures also allow drilling into prefabricated concrete rings without exceeding their normal thickness.

Water intake wells even when these steps are permanently submerged. The quality of the materials used in the manufacture of the PATE-SUGAR does not produce any contamination or oxidation.

The step is primarily for urban sanitation use, but we manufacture other models of STEPS to cover other needs such as:

  • Marine STEPS for use in marinas and nuclear power plants.
  • Mountain STEPS for outdoor use with extra ultraviolet protection.
  • STEPS for outdoor installation with extra ultraviolet protection.
  • Insertable STEPS for wells that are not made of concrete.
