The earmuffs are the latest advancement from 3M in hearing conservation. New technologies in comfort, design, and protection come together in this innovative line of earmuffs. The X1P5E is a lightweight earmuff designed for protection against low-level industrial noise and other loud sounds.

The 3M™ PELTOR™ X1 earmuffs are our lightweight hearing protectors with soft and comfortable cushions. Available as a headband, helmet accessory, and neckband. The headband model features a double headband with electrical insulation that reduces heat buildup on the top of the head. Depending on user preferences or application needs, there are helmet-mounted versions available with dielectric electrical insulation or with robust metal arms.

For high-performance hearing protection against low to moderate noise levels, use the 3M™ PELTOR™ X1 earmuffs. Due to their lightweight design with low-profile cups, they are ideal when overprotection is a concern. The 3M PELTOR X1 earmuffs are the first level of acoustic protection in the series and have a green color code. This makes it easier to select the appropriate level of protection from the X series range. The headband model features a double headband design with electrical insulation that helps reduce heat buildup on the top of the head, and the stainless steel wire coated with plastic makes the headband the most robust offered by 3M. They are durable and comfortable, as the wide and flat headband has a soft plastic coating that provides stable pressure on the top of the head. There is no exposed metal, which means the product is "dielectric," providing electrical resistance in applications at risk of sparks or discharges. The carefully molded sliders ensure that the earmuffs fit easily on the head. The wide and soft foam cushions help users stay comfortable, while the thin cups offer greater compatibility with other protective equipment. The helmet-mounted version is a product that meets the needs of the job or the preferences of each user and is available as P5 with the same dielectric performance as the headband model. Alternatively, if the application does not require electrical insulation, the P3 model mounted on the helmet and neckband is available. The cushions and foam inserts, available as hygiene kits, are easy to replace if worn or damaged, helping to extend the product's lifespan.

NORMATIVE

All hearing protectors sold in Europe, in order to protect the user against harmful noise, must have CE approval. This is generally done by testing the product against the relevant parts of the harmonized European standards family, EN 352.

Following a periodic review, the revised EN 352 family of standards was published in 2020. For more information on this update, please refer to the 3M technical bulletin “Regulatory Updates - EN 352:2020.”

When certifying hearing protectors according to the harmonized European standard (whether passive or electronic), they must meet the requirements of one of the following three standards as applicable to a given device.
