FITTING TIPS AND GUIDELINES

Size standards vary between different manufacturers, so we recommend that you request the size that normally fits you best. Shoes For Crews footwear aims to maintain consistent sizes across all different styles, and their sizes generally conform to European size standards. All available sizes are shown in the Select Size dropdown menu on our website. If you are between sizes, we recommend ordering 1/2 size larger.

1. The best time to measure and fit shoes is when your feet are at their largest, usually at the end of the afternoon or evening.
2. Always try on your new shoes with the same socks that you will typically wear with this type of shoe.
3. If you use your own insoles or orthotics inside your shoes, consider the additional volume when fitting new shoes. If your new shoes have a removable insole, remember to take it out and replace it with your own insole or orthotic. Insoles or orthotics affect how a shoe fits.
4. Select the shoe style that best fits the shape of your foot.
5. Make sure the widest part of your foot (the circumference around the ball) fits comfortably in the widest part of the shoe. Shoes should be as wide as your feet and one thumb (1/2 inch) longer than your longest toe when standing.
6. Move your toes to ensure you have enough space for them.
7. Do not select a shoe that is too small to avoid heel slippage. Your shoe should fit comfortably over the top of your foot, even if it is new.
8. Boots provide more support and are more durable, but they may be heavier and less flexible at the top of the shoe.
9. Try your new shoes at home or on a clean surface for a few minutes before deciding on their fit and comfort.
10. Remember that your foot size changes as you age, typically getting larger.
11. Do not buy shoes that are too tight and expect them to stretch to fit. They won't.
12. Shoes with thick soles cushion the feet better on hard surfaces.
13. A lace-up or Velcro® closure shoe generally fits better than a slip-on or heeled model.
14. Low-heeled shoes are more comfortable and safer than high-heeled ones.

EN ISO 20347:2012 O2 HRO WR SRC ESD

The footwear marking in ISO 20347:2012 refers to the requirements for footwear that does not have toe protection, specific for work environments. Here’s an explanation of each part of the marking:

ISO 20347:2012: This is the standard that defines the requirements for safety footwear and is applicable to footwear not equipped with toe protection.

-O2: Indicates that the footwear is of type "O" (no toe protection) and "2" means it offers additional resistance, such as increased resistance to penetration by objects.

-HRO: Means that the sole of the footwear has heat contact resistance up to 300 °C, which is important in environments where there is exposure to extreme heat.

-WR: Indicates that the footwear is water-resistant, helping to keep feet dry in damp or wet environments.

-SRC: Mentions that the footwear meets slip resistance requirements on both ceramic surfaces with a detergent solution and on steel with glycerin, contributing to better traction and safety while walking.

- ESD: Refers to the footwear being suitable for protection against electrostatic discharge, which is essential in environments where sensitive electronic components are handled.
