To improve safety during the use of protection systems for ascent, SKYLOTEC has developed the SPEED, the only runner in the world that has two redundant grip systems and a retention function based on speed. The principle of operation of the SPEED is very simple: the safety latch is hidden inside the casing, protected against unauthorized interventions. Thanks to an additional lever, during ascent the SPEED functions just like a retractable runner. The runner stays close, and consequently, the fall distance remains short. This way, the ascent becomes more comfortable and reduces injuries caused by falls. If there is a failure in the retractable traction, whether due to incorrect behavior or bad luck, the runner can only reach a fixed and predefined maximum speed. If this speed is exceeded: a centrifugal brake locks the runner.
