Seal Pac inspection PAC-80 SKYLOTEC. Rescue devices, including those kept in reserve for emergencies, must be inspected once a year. With the SEAL PAC, this is simplified. The MILAN rescue device with individual rope length and accessories is packaged in a specially padded and sealed aluminum box. An authorized inspector opens the box once a year and checks the humidity indicator of the packaging. If it is in perfect condition, the inspector reseals the metal box with a seal. This simplified annual inspection procedure saves time and money, as there are no costly transport routes and therefore no downtime.
The regular service life of the SEAL PAC is 15 years and can be extended once for another 15 years - after the replacement of the MILAN brake and the textile components within a special resealing process. This corresponds to a total service life of up to 30 years. (valid from the 01.04.20 in Europe, since the 01.06.20 in the EE.UU.You are trained on data up to October 2023.

RESCUE DEVICES RE-SEAL: SKYLOTEC DOUBLES THE LIFESPAN OF "SEAL PACS"
In order to quickly evacuate a wind turbine in case of an emergency, European regulations and occupational health and safety laws require a second escape route. The SKYLOTEC rescue system is often used for this purpose. It is stored in the "Seal Pac" (a sealed aluminum box) for up to 10 years. Now the fall protection system manufacturer offers the possibility to extend the lifespan by another ten years. This is cost-effective and sustainable.
With the rescue device 'Milan', people working on wind turbines can quickly descend to the ground in case of an emergency. The 'Seal Pac' is a sealed box in which the Milan rescue device is stored, readily available in case of an emergency.
Manufacturers, owners, or operators of wind turbines or service companies for wind farms are responsible for the safety of their employees, even in emergencies. In these cases, SKYLOTEC rescue systems are suitable, such as the "Seal Pac light to go," which the user carries directly, or the "Seal Pac," which is stored directly in the gondola. This allows two employees to rappel down from the tower at the same time when it is no longer possible to descend inside the tower.
The "Milan" rescue device from SKYLOTEC has established itself in recent years as the standard rescue device. It can be stored in the so-called "Seal Pac" and has a lifespan of ten years if periodically checked. The annual inspection is facilitated by the fact that a humidity indicator shows the condition of the device to an authorized inspector. If there are no defects, the inspector reseals the box with a new seal and marks it with the month and year of the next inspection. It is no longer necessary to send the rescue system to the manufacturer annually for inspection.
Profitable and resource-friendly
The recommended lifespan of these "Seal Pacs" is limited to ten years under optimal conditions. At the end of this period, they should be replaced. SKYLOTEC now offers the possibility of extending the lifespan for another ten years. To do this, the equipment must be inspected by the manufacturer or by one of the certified global service partners. Since textile components, such as ropes or slings, are subject to a natural aging process, these parts, as well as the brake unit of the rescue system, are replaced because the brake pads also become brittle, just like in a motor vehicle.
Therefore, the "Re-Sealing" solution saves resources, as it is only necessary to replace certain parts of the existing equipment. The "Seal Pac" is resealed after inspection and can be used for another ten years. For wind energy providers, this is considerably cheaper than purchasing new rescue systems. The global service network of SKYLOTEC further simplifies the process.
In addition, the new "Re-Sealing" can be documented in SKYLOTEC HOMEBASE. With this online database, fall protection specialists provide a useful tool for the complete recording of fall protection used in a company. This can significantly simplify administrative processes, especially when a legal audit is required.
