STANDARDS

Standard: EN 362 - Personal protective equipment against falls from height. Connectors.
The EN 12275:2013 standard specifies the safety requirements and testing methods for carabiners and connectors used in mountaineering, climbing, and caving. This standard classifies connectors into different types (such as Type B for basic use, Type H for securing with a dynamic knot, or Type K for via ferratas) and establishes the minimum breaking strengths they must withstand both along their major and minor axes and with the gate open. Its main objective is to ensure that the connector does not fail under the dynamic forces of a fall, also ensuring that the locking system is reliable and that accidental openings do not occur under load.

LIFESPAN

The estimated lifespan of the connector is unlimited. The following factors may reduce the product's lifespan: intensive use, contact with chemicals, particularly aggressive environments, exposure to extreme temperatures, exposure to ultraviolet rays, abrasion, cuts, strong impacts, or improper use and maintenance.
The mandatory annual review will validate the correct functioning of the equipment. It is mandatory for the equipment to be examined by the manufacturer or an authorized person at least once a year. In the event of having stopped a fall, the equipment must be removed from use.

USAGE LIMITATIONS

-The equipment must be assigned individually to a person.
-It is recommended that the anchor point where the fall protection system will be fixed is above the user. The anchor point must have a minimum static strength of 10 kN and must comply with the requirements of Standard EN 795.
-Personal protective equipment should not be used by individuals whose health condition may affect the safety of the user under normal use conditions or in case of emergency.

-Personal protective equipment should only be used by a trained and competent person in its safe use.
