Speed reduction bands are ideal for forcing vehicles to reduce speed.

The speed reduction bands can be used on streets, parking lots, shopping centers, communities, residential areas...

Fixing the speed reduction bands is done with anchors. They include male and female joining assemblies.

LOCATION

The speed reducers contemplated in this Instruction aim to maintain a speed that should have already been reduced with other measures (for example: signage, roundabouts, etc.), usually placed at the beginning of the crossing or section.
The distance between consecutive speed reducers should be between 50 and 200 m, although it should be ensured that it does not exceed 150 m.

LIMITATIONS

Speed reducers cannot be installed without technical justification in the following cases:

• In sections of the network that are not considered crossings. For these purposes, sections whose circulation, traffic, and uses are similar to those of crossings (for example, near roundabouts in peri-urban environments of roads called "park roads," urban ring roads, urban penetrations, etc.), and whose speed is less than 50 km/h, may be considered as crossings.
• In the first 50 meters from the beginning of the crossing when there is no "entry gate" (section where a moderate speed is guaranteed).
• In crossings whose length is less than 200 m.
• At points where the V85 exceeds 60 km/h.
• On bridges or tunnels or other singular structures, and in the 25 m before or after.
• In sections of crossings with a slope greater than 5%.
• In sections of crossings where there are more than 2 lanes of traffic, unless there is an unpassable median separating directions.
• In sections of crossings with an average daily traffic (ADT) greater than 5000 vehicles, or a peak hourly intensity greater than 300 vehicles.
• In sections of crossings with an ADT of heavy vehicles greater than 300 vehicles.
• Near intersections, "speed bump" type speed reducers will not be placed to avoid confusing pedestrians with pedestrian crossings. In this case, only trapezoidal type speed reducers can be used, provided there are pedestrian crossings.

INSTALLATION

• Prefabricated reducers generally consist of modules that are assembled and fixed to the pavement on site.
• The operations of storage, transport, stockpiling, and assembly will be carried out with sufficient care to avoid damage or excessive stress that could harm the various elements.
• If, after the appropriate checks, modules with defects that could negatively affect their resistance, stability, or behavior are detected, they will be rejected.
• During assembly, the various modules will be assembled so that the resulting set adapts to the intended shape for the device to be installed.
• The modules and, therefore, the device as a whole, will be fixed to the pavement using screws or chemical adhesives, respecting the tolerances related to the entry edges and ensuring the stability and behavior of the devices against the impact of vehicle wheels passing over them.
• The fixing screws will be perfectly embedded in the reducer without any element or part protruding from the surface of the speed reducer.

STORAGE, CLEANING, and MAINTENANCE

The working temperature should not exceed 45º C. Higher temperatures may deform the supporting material.
The optimal storage temperature should be between 15º C and 25º C; and with a humidity of 10/50%.
Cleaning methods; avoid using abrasive products. It is recommended to clean them with water and neutral detergents.
